The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) issued a work notice for upcoming work at the Zeneca/Former Stauffer Chemical site that will extend into the Richmond Field Station property.
The purpose of the work is to break down volatile organic compounds (VOCs) found in groundwater at the Zeneca site, and those that have migrated to the RFS site. The work is being done according to a DTSC-approved Revised Remedial Design Details Report and includes the following activities:
- Groundwater monitoring well installation for 30 new wells is currently underway. Installation of the two wells on the RFS started the week of September 11, 2023. See map in the attached work notice for locations (southeast of B478, and east of B470/475)
- Groundwater sampling from September 25 to October 11, 2023.
- Groundwater injections from October 9, 2023 to May 29, 2024.
